In 2009, Mr. Glidden relocated to the Shanghai District in China to assist Ryan Associates General Contractors in their role to oversee quality with regard to the construction of the Zhongkai Sheshan Villas. Mr. Glidden managed the on site team to oversee the construction of three model high-end villas. The role of RA was primarily to observe record and report on the general progress of the construction and provide guidance to the workforce on site.
Our primary role was that of daily onsite Project and Construction Management.
We were also responsible for establishing the onsite office, standards and protocols.
Ian Glidden assisted ThreeSixty Archtiecture in 2004 as a Consultant Project Architect to help with the development of their west coast projects. During the next two years, Ian managed the design team for the $120 million Stockton Event Center. During the final year Ian provided full-time onsite Construction Management of the new Stockton Arena and site developments associated with it.
In 2005 Mr. Glidden was asked to assist ThreeSixty Archtiecture’s expansion in San Francisco. Ian located appropriate office space, designed and managed the construction of the interiors and performed the role of managing that new office spending 5 years building that west coast presence.
Prior to joining ThreeSixty Archtiecture, Ian completed a commission to provide Architecture, Documentation and Construction Management of a new 10,000 square foot facility for Maddock Douglas, Inc. – a Chicago area based creative agency. The aggressive schedule required Ian to relocate to Chicago to provide daily attention to the issues of design and subsequent construction.
Ian has collaborated with Nilus DeMatran on many residential projects from 2003 to the present. Much of the studio's work has been recognized for publication, award or other special attention such as inclusion on the San Francisco Architecture in the City home tours. Ian performed the Project Management roles including documentation and permit expediting.
In 1999 Ian worked with Mark Cavagnero Associates. As a Project Architect Ian witnessed the realization of two projects, the start of construction on a third, and the client support to continue design development of Schematic ideas on another. The two completed projects included the firm’s new office space near Levi Plaza and the Mill Valley residence for Mark, his wife and children.
In 1998, KAA Group recruited Mr. Glidden to perform Construction Management tasks for their remodel at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. His main charge was to ensure that the integrity of the design documents was upheld under the pressures of a set budget and a tight construction schedule leading up to the Museum's hosting of the traveling Picasso and Van Gogh exhibits.
From 1993 to 1998, while with the office of T. Olle Lundberg, in addition to shepherding more than a dozen high-end custom homes through design development and construction, Ian’s credits included work for the Socrates Sculpture Park in New York City, the Mazzocco Vineyards in Healdsburg and the Hotel Diva in San Francisco.
